All licensed electricity suppliers in the UK are now obliged by law to purchase a proportion of their supply from renewable sources. Suppliers prove that they have purchased renewable energy by presenting ROC’s (Renewable Energy Certificates) to Ofgem. All renewable generators whether onsite or grid connected are eligible to receive ROC’s.
